Simple ways to Votefest

Going to lunch with friends? Hanging with the fam? Make it a VoteFest activity and create something that works best for you.

You can plan these VoteFest activities during early voting or gather folks up for Election Day. Check here to see if and when your state offers early voting.

Organizing Your Work Crew:
  • Round up your colleagues, head to the polls, and celebrate with a little social hour after work! You’re morning person? Arrange to do it before work – just trade the after-hours social for a pre-work coffee meet up.
  • Take an actual lunch break and head to the polls with your coworkers. Be sure to grab a bite to eat while you’re out and chat about how things went.
  • Do you work in a place with multiple work shifts, like a hospital or restaurant? Gather your colleagues and plan a carpool caravan to the polls.
Organizing Family & Friends:
  • Check to see if your state has early voting on the weekends! Make a plan to meet your friends to vote and then grab brunch.
  • Planning on having dinner get together soon? Gather up your dinner dates and go vote before heading out to eat.
  • Find something social for you and your friends to do together- like gathering watching sports at a bar or seeing a movie – then make a commitment to all vote and then wear your I Voted stickers, silently or not so silently shame anyone who isn’t and talk about your experience!
Organizing Your Communities:
  • If you’re on an extracurricular sports team (kickball, volleyball, flag football), or do group workouts (yoga, run club, cycling) coordinate with everyone and head to the polls as a group!
  • If you’re active in your religious organization, then use this communal opportunity to vote after service or before a group meeting.
  • If you are a member of any club, organization use your next meeting or activity to organize everyone’s voting plans and go cast your ballots together! If you can’t vote together, then develop and share plans, then hold one another accountable.
  • If you are a student, teacher, or on a college campus, coordinate with your fellow dormmates classmates, friends, and colleagues to walk to the polls nearby.
