Jesse Moore Joins Rock the Vote as Vice President of Civic Engagement

Rock the Vote, the largest nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building the political power of young people, announced today that Jesse Moore will join the organization’s leadership team as Vice President of Civic Engagement. In his new role, Moore will oversee Rock the Vote’s engagement goals of voter registration and turnout by building programs to guide electoral and issue-based efforts and managing partnerships with nonprofits and political organizations..

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jesse as Rock the Vote approaches a critically important election season,” said Rock the Vote President Carolyn DeWitt. “We know the stakes are high as young people look to make their voices heard on vital issues, and we build the strong team needed to engage and mobilize them as voters through November and beyond.”

Moore joins Rock the Vote with a wealth of experience engaging young and diverse communities in the political process, most recently serving as Associate Director of Public Engagement in the White House. In that role, Jesse was the White House’s primary liaison to the entertainment industry and minority faith communities. He was also an architect of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge and celebrity fronted campaigns to encourage mentorship, youth empowerment and criminal justice reform. He previously served as a White House Speechwriter and on both of President Obama’s national campaigns, most recently as Political Director in North Carolina.

“I’m eager to begin a new chapter at Rock the Vote, mobilizing young people and influential partners from around the country both as voters, and as leaders in their communities,” said Moore. “We have a talented team, and we are highly motivated to maximize voter turnout and access, while helping America’s largest and most diverse generation in history to recognize their power as voters to drive change both nationally and locally on the issues they care so passionately about.”

In joining Rock the Vote, Moore follows a string of recent high-profile hires, including the addition of Vice President of Marketing and Creative Luis Calderin, who previously served as a top aide on Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. Rock the Vote also recently launched Truth to Power, the organization’s campaign to engage and mobilize young voters in the 2016 general election, with a pop-up art exhibition and event series in Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention and a party at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention.

Moore will report directly to Rock the Vote President Carolyn DeWitt.
