MISS USA TEAMS UP WITH ROCK THE VOTE TO REGISTER YOUNG AMERICANS

The Miss Universe Organization and Rock the Vote have partnered to register voters and engage young people in the political process during this ever-important election year.

Recently crowned Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, and the 50 State Titleholders, will partner with Rock the Vote around National Voter Registration Day on September 25th.  Miss USA and the state titleholders will register their respective states’ voters through online and on-the-ground events across the country.

“I am excited and pleased that the Miss USA Pageant will be working with Rock the Vote to emphasize the importance of voter registration,” said Donald Trump, Co-Owner of the Miss Universe Organization. “I know both organizations are dedicated to this cause and will do a great job. National Voter Registration Day is available to all – and every vote translates into the power to make a difference.”

Titleholders will also participate in a social media campaign encouraging people to register to vote through the placement of Rock the Vote’s online voter registration tool on their personal web-pages as well as the Miss USA official website. Miss USA and the state titleholders’ on-the-ground, digital and media efforts on National Voter Registration Day will create awareness of voter registration opportunities—spreading the word to tens of thousands of voters who would not be reached otherwise.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Miss Universe Organization, and these amazing young women to register voters in their communities and ensure that young Americans across the country have a voice in our democracy,” said Chrissy Faessen, VP of Marketing & Communications, Rock the Vote.

Miss USA and state titleholders will also make appearances at Rock the Vote’s highly visible election events taking place this year, including Rock the Vote’s legendary Road Trip visiting targeted cities across the country. Outreach will also include hosting events on college campuses and in high school classrooms to ensure that young people are equipped with the information they need to register to vote and cast a ballot.

Finally, Miss USA and Rock the Vote will film Public Service Announcements highlighting the importance of casting a ballot and registering to vote. The series of PSAs will also feature the recently crowned Miss USA as she registers to vote for the first time.

“As a first time voter, I am looking forward to being a part of the voting process and partnering with Rock the Vote to help register young voters and get out the vote for the November 6 election,” said Oliva Culpo, Miss USA 2012.
