Rock the Vote’s Statement on President Obama’s Speech at the University of Maryland
Today at the University of Maryland in College Park, President Obama spoke directly to young people about health care reform. The following is a statement from the President of Rock the Vote, Heather Smith:
“Rock the Vote applauds the President for directly engaging young Americans in the critical dialogue around health care reform. Young adults are the most uninsured age group in America and are struggling with high unemployment, low wages, working in jobs without health benefits, and rising student debt burdens. The status quo does not work for young Americans. As legislation moves through Congress, it must lay out comprehensive reform that includes quality, affordable care and expands coverage for young adults. More than twenty-two million of young Americans voted in the last election, and they will continue to demand their voices are heard around health care reform.”
